FREE ADVICE FOR INVESTORS.
Guskip often moves the markel, but no investor should either buy or set on murtel guestp only.
For the week under review there is very little change to report. The June Settlement passed through satisfactorily, and rates have been well maintained. A steady tome prevails in the market, and those who were looking out for cheap shares following the settlement were disappointed.. With the money shares are market so easy, "gift not likely to be hawked about in, the market, and such of the settle- ment left-overs," so to speak, were easily taken up. Immediate- ly after the settlement rates showed- slight improvement and the mar ket, as I have said, has been steady since.
The attention of speculators' at the moment appears to be centred on Cements and Ropes. Several good investment stocks," however, Aave not appreciated in proportion | to Cements and Ropes, and there is a section who feel that the speculative element and not the investing element, is predominant in the share market at the present moment.
HONG KONG BANKS were again in demand during the week and jumped from $1,500 to $1,530, quite a few shares changing hands at the latter rate.
UNIONS appear to be neglected altogether, and shares seem to have been offering freely last week at $450. Small sales took place at this figure, but at the close of the week huyers did not appear noxious to pay this amount.
KOWLOON WHARVES changed hands at $177, which is a slight improvement over last week. There seems to be a steady demand for these shares.
CHINA PROVIDENTS have also improved, upon the strength of a new issue which is contemplated. During the week sales were cfect- ed at various rates between $3.50 and $3.50.
