In the witness-box, Mr. Sprade berry said that it was shortly after two o'clock on Tuesday, when the incident occurred. He and Mrs. Spradberry had just seen a lady friend off and they were about to retire when he heard a noise. Mrs. Spradberry was awake and saw a man in the bedroom, and when he got up, he (witnesa) saw the thief crouching by the side of the bed. He went for the man, and they became engaged in a furious strug- gle in the hall, where blows were given and taken freely. He shout ed to his wife to turn on all the lights in the house, and Mra Spradberry, in the meantime," had to mind the baby.

BIG IDEAS.

The film now being shown at the Queen's Theatre, Big Time, is an amusing story of a man whose ability is out of all proportion tol his ideas. It is a lively picture in every sense of the word, and though it deals with such familiar places as behind the footlights and movië, stadios there are some unfamiliar incidents which make "Big Time ” an interesting picture. There is some good singing and dancing as well as excellent acting. The pic- ture is being shown to-day and Saturday.

There are few, if any, more inter- esting men in Hollywood than | Frank Merlin. He has bech bobo, author, actor, Press agent, doer- tender, scene-shifter, advance agent, property-man, usher, stage carpen- ter, scene-painter; manager, direc tor and producer. He boasts that he had filled every "possible job connected with a theatre except to sell tickets, and cannot understand, how he escaped that occupation."

Merlin is the author of several plays, and never wrote one he did not sell Naturally be is familiar. with every angle of production, and this is probably the reason he was selected to stage direct "A Song of Kentucky, Fox Movietone comedy drama showing at the Queen's) Theatre from Bunday co-featuring Joe Wagstaff and Lois Moran.
