The decreased demand, in the American market, as the abnormal decline in the quotation of mow cocoons, have driven the price of silk yarn in Japan down to unprecedented level.

The relief under the Indemni- fication Law-the term, though kept secret is understood, to be six months although for advancod, has had little effect in improving the situation. Some filatures and banks have been suggesting that the Government extend the period a little longer so that the price of yarn might have time to recover, the Affected by the movement Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Ma- chida, is reported by the Japan Chronicle as having decided on the following plan:-
(1) To extend the period of. indemnification by aix months.
(2) To increase the amount of indemnification by Y.42 for the six months, or seven yen a month on interest and storage.
(3) To convene & Committee for adjusting the price of silk
