Dr. F. J. Waldo, the senior London coroner, is frequently in the limelight for his efforts to lessen the number of traffic fatalities. He said recently that in Southwark there were twice as many accidents last year as in the City of London, and that the average speed of vehicles involved was only 9 m.ph.
