While admitting that he picked up something which looked like a wallet, defendant denied the charge of theft, and he was also unable to explain how the article came to be found in the lavatory. STONES AT SOLDIERS.
Throwing stones at soldiers in Spring Garden Lane was the charge. against a Chinese boy. Lee, Corpl. Phippen, of the Somerset L.I., and Lce Corp. Brown, of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, said that stone throwing had occurred while they were on military police duty. but it had been difficult to catch the offenders. The latter stated that the accused was one of three boys who were seen to run away after the latest 'incident.

The fact that women are barred from competing in. the M.C.C. has been an additional inducement to women to run trials of, their own; but the offer of help from many M.C.C. officials has been gratefully accepted;
