Sheffield Wednesday's advance in the First Division of the English League received another check in the Easter, holiday matches on Monday when they visited Derby to suffer a benys" defeat. The leaders require four more points with five matches in' hand to win the League again, provided Derly succeed in win- ning their remaining three matches. They were due to meet again yesterday at Sheffield. Newcastle, almost at the bettem of the table, dropped a point which they can ill afford while they are still in " the relegation aren.
Blackpool made sure of promotion from the Second Division by defeating Oldham. Chelsea, who, together with Oldham, are fight- ing for promotion. also 'suffered defeat, and both have two matches more to decide the issue.

Two games in the Northern Section produced heavy scoring. Hartlepools went dowà at home to Rochdale by two goals to eight, while Lincoln netted eight clear goals against Tranatére. “Port Vale's success against York City carried them to the top place, and 'they are now in a better position to contest the right to move up
