Some good and inst Eootla was seen in the match between South China and Somersets et Caroline Hall on Saturday. There was no scoring in the first half But the "Sets" had a lucky escape in this portion of the game when Niel, full back, managed to stop shot which had passed their goalie South China was inore on the aggressive until they had the misfortune to lose the services of Leung Wing-täk, who met with an accident in attempting to tackle the Somersete' centre half. South China opened the second half with a man short and their defence had strenuous time keeping the op- posing forwards from scoring. A misjudgment by the Chinese goalie gave Rayson the chance to score for Somersets. It is regrettable that bad feeling should have crept into the latter portion of the game. The referee, had to caution several players. It was not an iden! con- clusion to a most successful season!

The enior division matches had been keenly fought out, as could be seen from the League table. The Toyal Navy team is second to the winners, China Athletic, only be cause of the latter's better goal average. For the same reason the Somerset Infantry occupy third place and the King's Own Scottish Borderers fourth, though both teams have 28 points. The consist- ent Bouth China eleven only managed to end up in the fifth position. loon and Recreio, did not fare as well as in former years and finish s up quite low in the table. The babies of the League, St. Joseph's. College, started in quite a pleas-

ing manner, but they were not able to maintain their fighting spirit til the end of the season. They will probably do much bet- kep next season.

The championship title in the second division is still undecided, with the Chinese "A"

team favourites. This tean

South Chinn "A" although not playing at full strength, had no difficulty in accounting for the home team. and scored three goals in the first half. On the resumption of the second half, Chow Wing Hung did some useful work and scored, one for Chinese "B" but South China' "A" managed to add two further goals before the final whistle, thus convincingly establishing.

their superiority.

A meeting of the Hong Kong Baseball Association was held last week when officials for the season were elected, and prospets for the approaching season in general were discussed. There was a very, encouraging turn-out, and all the teams that competed last year are again entering the League, which will commenco shortly. Ball fans will congratulate Mr. P. N.. Jester, Vice-Consul of the United States in Hong Kong, on being elected President. "Big Bill" Burrell is the new Secretary-Treasurer. The new Vice-President is Mr. T. Fukujima, and Sir Shou-son Chow and Mr. H. T. Creasy were made Honorary Presidents. Nothing is known as regards the field on which this season's games will be held, but a sub-committee is look- ing after this and it is hoped that

suitable diamond will be secured before very many weeks are out. In the meantime, some of the teams are already "warming-up" and a scratch team from South China took on the ball nine from the Mindano over the week-end, and

lively, though perhaps a little one-sided, game was seen, with the locals winning.
