What was described by Lord Chief Justice Moore as ca extraordinary application was made before him in the King's Beach Division, Bal fast, last month, when James Me- Kelvey and his wife Grace applied for a writ of Habeas Corpus in respect of their daughter, aged 20.
Counsel for the applicants read an affidavit made by Mr. and Mrs. McKelvey, in which they said that their daughter entered the service of Archilald Clarke, of Antrim, a draper, as a domestic servant in guineas a week are now latting every salaries. They had the same, chan-

"The Dippers."
La consequence of information they received the mother went to Antrim on February 7 and saw her daughter at Mr. Clarke's house. Her daughter then told her that Mr. Clarke and his family were members of a religious sect known as the Dippers" and that she bad been converted and was saved. Mr. Clarke refused to let her take her daughter. away, and said that all she might do was to correspond

"It is quite true," Mrs. Harinden put in. "I joined the staff as sn office assistant at 30s. a week, and I waited four years for the first great opportunity. A vachary oc carred on the executive, and I SAW no reason why I should not be given a chance. I asked for the job and got it. I was made director six months ago,"

Tenants of many houses in Paddington are making £300 a year by sub-letting, and are living rent free in the best rooms of the house.
In several instances houses for which the tenants pay £6 a week. produce £30 to £25 by sub-letting,
Sir William added.
Mr. and Mrs. McKelvey visited Mr. Clarke's house at Antrim the following day, but he refused to allow them to enter, and. speaking from an upper window, told them to go away. He told them that they could not see their, daughter, and called out for the police. She changed her religion, and because of that her parents asked for a Habeas Corpus writ. The parents live in Donegal (Free State), nad are therefore outside the jurisdiction of the Court. I am not aware of any case where such a writ has been issued where the girl herself ex- presses unwillingness to leave her situation.
