OHINA UNDERWRITERS. Small sales were recorded during the week at $1.20 and 81.55, and at the close of business on Satur day, I learned that there were fur. ther buyers in the market at a slightly lower figure, any 81.10.
UNION INSURANCES. This stock has gone up to a buying. Tate of $400, but apparently even this high figure does not attract sellers, as practically no business was re- corded during the week in this "stock. This was not due to a lack of inquiries, a good many of which came from outports.
HONG KONG WHARVES.-In keeping with the rest of the mar ket, this stock has had a sharp rise and closed with buyers offering $155 for shares, without finding uny,
CHINA PROVIDENTS. - After while being neglected, for some prior to the March Settlement, the shares have again come into pro- minence, and during the week quite a few large parcels changed hands. Buyers were offering $5.45 Saturday, without getting sellers.

CAUTIOUS-1. The price is quite high considering the business of the Company compared with the dividend. The negotiations, I am afraid, are not, as advantageous to the Company as might think. The rate should go slight- ly higher during the next fex days or so, in which case, get out! The general opinion is that this stock will come down slightly. Better wait. 3. Cer- tainly not. The earning capacity of this Company fluctuates from year to year; this being the fiscal year just ending. dividends are irregular, and as' an investment. I cannot recom- mend it.
SAFETY.-Have considered your position and advise you to sell. There are many people at present inquiring about the future of this stock. If the negotiations fail, prices will probably come down rapidly. Better sell than take a gamble.
