Los Angeles, March £1.-A report that 8. C. Lewis, president of the collapsed $100,000,000 Julian Oil Co.. shipped "a vast sum to Shanghai on the steamship Presi dent Harrison shortly after the debacle of his concora was being checked to-day by the District At- torney's office which recently reviv. ed investigation of the case.

The Julian Oil Co. fell to pieces in May of 1927 and Mr. Lewis' ship- ment is supposed to have occurred soon afterward.

Officials connected with the man- agement of the steamship at the time of the alleged shipment are being interviewed by investigating authorities.

It was said to-day that years of investigations have failed to reveal any trace of some $35,000,000 of the Jalian Oil Co.'s funds. Official, of the company said to-day that they had received the tip" on the alleged shipment by Mr. Lewis from ahip einployee who peeped into a trunk and saw that it was loaded with bills. !!!

A Tar-reaching Case. Federal authorities are said to possess information concerning the trunk and money.

Early trials failed to result in a conviction of Mr. Lewis, but a sub- sequent trial on a charge of bribery resulted in conviction and impri sonment of Asa Keyes, Districi At- torney, on an allegation that be had accepted money.

Recently a multitude of new charges" appeared in this connec- tion, involving jury bribery,
