The ballad concert given yester- day in the Helena May Institute was officially the last of the winter season. It was pleasing, however in see, from the programme, that an extra concert, organised by Mr. Harry Ore, will be given on April

The first item on the programme was the Flower Duet" from Madame Butterfly, sung by Mrs. Womack and Birs. Sanger. This charming piece served to put the audience in very good humour, and was, aucceed by Roger Quilter's O Mistress Mine" sung by Mrs. George Tinson. Mrs. Tirson. has a pleasant mezzo-soprano," and her licarers would not be content until she consented to give an encore. There followed a baritone Mr. R. A. Green who gave "In Summer Time on Bredon," in a vigorous' and pleasing manner. He, too, begged in no uncertain voice, for an encore which he neverdid scoring another success.

The only instrumental item was sonata, for violin and piano, of Francisco Verazini, played by Migs Acheson and Mr. F."Mason. The violinist-Miss Acheson-seemed a little nervous in the delicate pre- lade, but rilaved the rest very well especially the final dancing more- ment.
