THE MARINE COURT.
A BUSY MORNING.
Commander J. B. Newill, D.6.0., R.N. had before him at Marine Court yesterday, two Chinese board ing-house runners charged with boarding the s.s. Empress of Canada without first obtaining a permit from the master or the officer on duty.
They pleaded guilty but said there were other boarding-house runters on board, and they were anxious to speak to the passengers before the men who were already on the ship had a chance. They climbed on board by means of poles.
A fine of 820 each was imposed. Another boarding-house charged with the same offence was also fined $20. The vessel in this 2,850 4,909 caso was the President Pierce.

The sand, valued at 840, was lost and the junk is now lying water- logged, but not entirely submerged. The damage done to the vessel is estimated at $2,000.

`RIVER STEAMER IN
COLLISION.
While approaching her wharf on Friday evening at Kongmoon, the 5.5. Kwong Fook Cheong collided with two junks, one of which was surk and the other damaged.
It is understood that the junks were waiting to take in cargo at the time of the collision.
