APPLE GREEN AND BEIGE.
CRIN AND LEGHORN.
It is delightful to see the real summer straws, crinoline and leg- horn, again. You will find them both most charmingly represented in the Dolly Vardon Hat Shop.
IS DELIGHTFULLY YOUNG IN STYLE,
But
The new Spring millinery styles. are decidedly youthful but they have nothing of the rather hard sophii- tication of youth which was 30 marked a feature of the autumn and early winter styles Those severe cut-away-over-the-brow bats were very hard to wear except by the young and very fresh, or the most sophisicated and chic. the spring hats, which are now simple, now rather elaborate with their appliqud trimmings braidings and atitchery, are young without being hard. The brims for there are such things again-droop down gracefully at either side. Some times the brim shades" the eyes, at others it is turned softly back in front. At the back they are gen- erally cut away or pleated to t closely round the nape of the neck.
Apple green, surely the most springlike of all colours, is very prominent. There are delightful" cinnamon and evem-au-lait beiges, n few clear scarlets, and quite a num- ber of madonna blue straws. The straw is generally one of the many varieties of ne meshed bankok, but there are charming Ince straws which vie with them for first place. A few tagels and paillasse straws are also seen, and crin and leghorn are being much used for the earliest of summer hats.

SCIENCE - ABETS BEAUTY.
When Laura, in chaste Victorian duye, dared to add a touch of rouge to her cheeks or of carmine to her lips it was regarded as something downright immoral.
To-day the chemists of the world are engaged in. fierce competition to provide her with aids to beauty, and no one, except perhaps an old fogey here and there, seems to think a ha'penny the worse of her.
