FAILING TO FLY THE RED PENNANT.

RIVER SKIPPER FINED.

Captain T. Jones, master of the

Chuen Chow; on the Hong Kong Macao run, was fined $5 by the Hon Comdr. G. F. Hole, R.N., at the Marine Court yesterday for failing to dy a red pennant at the masthead of his vessel whilst sho was under way.

Giving evidence, Bergt. Estall said the Chuen Chow was not flying a red ponnant when she entered the harbour at about 11 am. on 29th

3,901 ult. He boarded the vessel and pointed out this breach of the re gulations to Captain Jones. The skipper was later served with a

summons.

When asked by the Magistrate what he had to say, Capt. Jones replied that he was not aware that he was not flying the red pennant at the masthead until it was point- ed out to him.

The Magistrate then remarked that Capt Jones was the mastar of the vessel, and as such he must be beld responsible.

The Takada and the Fog. Captain I. G. Lindon of the 3.5. Takada, which arrived here on Monday evening from Calcutta and Singapore reporta

Exceptionally good voyage from 1,500 Singapore, but dense fog of Hong Kong, whereby delayed 1 houra.

In all 12 ships were anchored off Waglan awaiting the clearance of 5,400 fog. At 3 p.m. Takada got under war and beaded the long line into 24,368 the harbour.
