125 Million Bushels Held Up. The Canadian Wheat Pool, which is holding out of world marketing channels something liks £23,000,000 bushels of wheat in the confident expectation that prices will go higher, finds itself in a stronger position as reports come of reduced crop estimates in Australia and Argentina. Officials of the Pool were greatly eouraged when the United States Department of Agri- culture estimated the combined $53 yield of Australia and Argentina at 200,000,000 bushels less than last year, which was the figure on which Pool experts had based their at- titude. As a matter of fact hold- ings of the Pool to-day aro higher than they were a year ago. At that date last year Western Canada had sold 200,000,000 bushels more than this year, and that figure roughly represents the short- age in the 1929 crop.

Premiums on straits and Banka Tin are quoted at £1.10 and £a (nom.) respectively. Business with consum era in this country and on the Con- tinent has rather improved, a fair- ly active demand having been re porked, whilst in America more in terest generally has been displayed and moderately active conditions have from time to time obtained. Conditions otherwise are very much the same and the market remains subject to the same influences which we have recently reported, the fore-
