A crowd of over ten thousand spectators watched the duel be tween the Chinese of Hong Kong and their compatriots of Shang. hai in a thrilling game played on Chinese New Year's Day at the South China ground, Caroline Hill.
All available accommodation in, the stands was taken up, and many had to be content with watching the game from the hillside and even from the tops of trees in the vicinity of the ground.
