THE MISSING LINK OF KNOWLEDGE.

Sir Ernest Rutherford, O.M., President of the Society, who made the presentation, remarked :-

New Chinese Companies. The Movement has consolidated considerably during the past year. We welcome heartily the formation of new Chinese companies and we hope that many Chinese girls will join the Training Class so that they may qualify to assist in forming new Companies and Packs. It is only through the whole-hearted co- operation of Chinese women and girls that we can make the Move ment far-reaching in the Colony, The Chinese Guider can convey to her sisters the true meaning and aims of Guiding and disabase the antagonistic or "enthuse" the in- different.

Splendid and invaluable work in the direction has been achieved by Miss Esther Kotewall-herself a Guide, together with Miss Woo M.B.E. A pioneer in Guiding among the Chinese. Miss Kotewall has translated the Tenderfoot and Second Class Tests into Chinese and has produced an admirable little book with illustrations. This had been published at Miss Kote wall's own expense. I hope at some future time to carry out this idea all being well. Meanwhile I thank them warmly for their readiness to assist in the Movement.
