A PROJECT TO ENHANCE THE JOYS OF MOTORISTS,
SCHEME FOR GIN DRINKERS' BAY.
Mr. Ho Leung, President of the Hong Kong Automobile Asso- ciation, speaking at the annual dinner dance of the A.A. held last night in the Peninsula Hotel, made mention of a rumoured scheme which would enormously increase the storage capacity of petrol and crude oil in the Colony. His remarks anent Gin Drink- ers' Bay, the locale of the proposed scheme, aroused much laughter and applause. The question of parking at the Star Ferry ap proach was also touched on, and gracefal references made to the Hon. Mr. 1. T."Creasy and Mr. T. H. King produced applause.
The more ronils Mr. Creasy can provide us with the better pleased " we shall be," said Mr. Ho Leung in reference to the proposed Sai Kung Road which he described as a project to enhance the joys of motorists in this Colony."
The President ended by making an appeal for a larger mem- bership: 500 is not," he said, "nearly enough for the Associa- tion's representations to carry full weight with the Government."
DANCING AND GOOD CHEER.
The Roof Garden of the Peninsula [ Hotel presented a gay and animated scene, and the large number of guests quite evidently enjoyed them- selves. An excellent dinner was Served by the Hotel, during and after which the guests danced to # well arranged programme of music. The very happy atmosphere of the A.A dinner dance last year was not forgotten by those who attended.
Everybody enme last night prepar ed to enjoy themselves-and there is ag doubt that each one left with the feeling that it had been a jolly good show."
PRESIDENT'S SPEECH.
Mr. Ho Leung, the President, made an excellent speech as follows: This annari gathering of the Hong Kong Autoingbile Association serves a twofold purpose. It serves, in the first place, to bring the members of the Association together in the form of a social reunion, and in the second to accerd us an op-

the early realisation of what is mentioned as gossip only, at the
moment, of a scheme which will enormously increase the storage capacity of petrol and crude oil within the Colony. The scheme is associated with a locality in a Bay bearing a name all of us are more ar less familiar with as an appetiser before our meal whether at the Clubs or in the Hotels of the Colony. THE TAIKOO BALL.
ANOTHER BIG SUCCESS.
DANCING TILL THE SMALL HOURS.
In spite of the many counter- attructions, there was a large numb. ber of guests at the Annual Ball of the Taikoo Club last night. The premises of the Club and the grounds presented a jolly scene. decorated as they were with elèc tric-lights, bioting and streamers of all colours. The dance-hall jook edparticularly well, while the. supper-room with multi-coloured lamp-shades of huge tulip-bulbs and indeed the whole club spoke volumes for the efforts of those who had undertaken the arrange- mente,
Messre. Lane Crawford catered for an excellent supper and their band supplied some very lively " music.
At the west end of the building was the Bar which opened out into the card room. Adjoining this was the supper-room while the library was utilised for the Claret Cup.

CURIO AUCTION.
SOME BRISK BIDDING.
„There was brisk bidding, although not very high prices were reached, at the auction of rurios at Lam- merts yesterday. The collection, which was drawn from various sources, comprised furniture, Black- wood and lacquer work, porcelain pictures and curiós. Among the latter were a 'petters zure of the Tang Dynasty which went very cheaply. A deep blue Peking glass
dish on a blackwood stand reached
about 840, while a couple of fine on pictures were knocked down
for 348. The furniture reached
fairly good prices although some red lacquer cabinets went cheaply. The bidding went quickly when the smaller pieces of porcelain and curios were put up; as is generally the case, some pieces reached their
true value, some rather more, and
good number were knocked down at true bargain prices.
