PRESERVING BIG GAME IN MALAYA.

LONDON, Nov. 2.
Concera for the fauna of the Federated Malay States Was GX- pressed in the House of Comuncus
when Sir George Penny, today that the fauna of this
Malay States was rapidly growing more scarce, owing to unrestricted shooting.
Sir George suggested that the | Colonial Office should take steps to see that restrictive measures were imposed to preserve and safeguard big game in Malays.
Mr. Lunn, the Under-Secretary for the Colonies, replying, pointed out that measures for the protec tion of wild fauna of Malaya al- rendy existed. Apart from game reserves there were forest reserves which constituted a sanctuary for wild animals, since indiscriminate shooting was not allowed there,

Sir George Penny contended that the existing machinery was quite inadequate and added that there. was a great fear that big game in Malaya would soon disappear.
Captain W. G. Ormsby-Gore sug- gested that the reserves were not nt, fault but that the machinery for effectively seeing that the law was carried cut had broken down. Po- wers ought to be, given to the game- wardens.
Mr. Lunn replied that if the measures alrendy taken were

LONDON, November 29. The maiden flight of the airship R.100 from Howden to the mooring tower at Cardington has been post- poned, the weather not permitting ihe R.101 to be put in the hanger..
-The R,100 was privately built at
cost of £70,000 less than the State-built R. 101. One of the chief differences is that the, R.100 is petrol-driven and the R10 oil- driven. The R.100 has three decks, compared to two on the R. 101. The dining saloon accommodates 56 people, and is surrounded by a jounge deck. The cruising speed is expected to be 80 miles an hour,.
which is faster than the R.101.

LONDON, Nov. 27. The decline of the British ect- to trade was discussed in the House of Commons this afternoon, speakers of all Parties referring to the fact that Lancashire'a ex- ports of cotton goods have fallen by one-third as compared with the pre-war figures.
The speakers dwelt on the keen- ness of the Japanese competition in India and China, and various re medies were suggested.
M. William Grahaan, the Pre- sident of the Board of Trade, re- plying to the debate, said he was unable to indicate the policy of the Government pending the Report of the Committee set up to enquire into the conditions of the cotton trade.
