A mistrem of a passenger bost was summoned before Mr. T. W. H. Hosegood at the Marine Court yea-Chengtu, British str., 1,328 tons, terday for making fast to the e | Haiching whilst that ship was un- derway in Harbour. The defen- dans pleaded guilty.
C. P. O. Clarke, who was in Court asked his Worship to impose beavy penalty. He pointed out that no person was allowed to board the vessel before it had been thoroughly searched by the Revenue Officers The defendant had taken. a gang of boarding house runners to the vessel.
His Worship imposed a fire of 830..
Coolie Drowned in the Harbour.
The master of the Blue Funnel Ixion, stated this as the vessel ar- 8,200 rived at the buoy, No. AB, a Chinese coolie in attempting to climb the stern of the vessel fell and was drowned. It was believed that he was struck by the propellor.
