We are indebted to Messrs. H. O. Odell & Co. for the following re- port:-"

With the excitement in Ewos and other Shanghai cotton abares hav ing subsided, probably for only temporary duration, an appreciably greater interest is being shown in local stocks.

The turnover for the week under review has been an improvement over similar periods of late, and present indications are that a much better market will prevail during the winter months.

Banks.-Continued in strong de- mand and, were put through from $1,235 to $1,255, and close with buyers at 81,950.

Canton and Hong Kong Fires.-} Improved to buying rates of $810 | and $780 respectively,

Uniona.-End a smart rise of 12 points to $352 buyers and higher prices will be paid to secure shares.

Underwriters.Came to business at 2 and 89,10 and continue in request at the latter figure.

Steamboats. Changed hands at $25 and 8251.

Wharves.-Sales were effected from 131 to as high as 8140 and shares can still be placed at the latter rate.

Shanghai Cotton Market.-A fair volume of business had been trans- neted at declining rates, the market ́ closing distinctly easier than a week ago. Ewos were sold down to Tls. 21, Shanghai_Cottons (Old) are. available at Tis. 100 and Zoong Sings can be had at Tls. 194.
