WEEKLY REPORT. Mesars. Benjamin & Potts, share and general brokers, in their weekly share report dated yesterday, stato:-

The past week has seen a very netive market, with a good demand for the majority of stocks, and a fair amount of business has result ed, both for cash and forward de- livery. Prices generally show an appreciable improvement.

In the North, the market con- tinues buoyant and as a rule buyers predominate.

Banks-Hong Kong and Shanghai Banks were placed at 81,230 and continue in request. The London quotation has advanced "to £199 (Middle).

Marine and Fice Insurances.--A strong demand for Unions has raised the price to 8334, Hong Kong Fires were dealt in at 8750 and more ate wanted at this figure. Canton are enquired for at $630.

Shipping. With the exception of Hong Kong, Canton and Macao Steamboats which have buyers at 825, other slocks in this section are quiet and unchanged.

Docks, Wharves and Godowns. Hong Kong and Kowloon Wharves were done at 8129 to $130 and closed with buyers at the latter rate. Whampoa Docks are slightly higher and unles were made at $33. There has been a better demand for China Providents. The price has ad- vanced and business was transacted at. 24.10. Shanghai Docks have had a further rise to Tis. 141. New En gineerings have recovered to a buy- ing quotation of Ths. 7.90.

CANTON TRADE NOTES.

Owing to shortage of stocks, the price of rice has advanced by forty to fifty cents per picul in the East River districts.

Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels have been the medium of a large basiness at various rates up to 20, the market closing easier with buyers at 80.20. Utilities-Hong Public

Kong $ Electrics have shown renewed strength and were negotiated in fair quantities up to 8611. with buyers offering a little more at the close. A small decline has occurred in China Lights (Old) which closed 825 with sellers at $12.60. Hong Kong Trams have changed hands between 818.20 and $18.30. Star Ferries have hardened and were booked up to

Oil and Mining.-Benguets have risen to a buying rate of $3.35. An interim dividend of 15 centavos has just been declared, making so far 23 centavos for the year ending December 31, 1920. Raubs were dealt in locally at $0.50. Kailans as 02/0d. have not attracted "any attention.

Cotton Mills.-Ewos have con tinued their rise and are in demand at Ts, 19 and a fair quantity of shares were sold to the North Iram Tls, 18 upwards. Shanghai Cottons (Old) are firmer and.. have buyers at Tla. 041, while the New shares have changed hands at Tis. 85.
