FIRST WATER POLO UPSET.
V.R.C. JUNIORS GO UNDER TO CHINESE SECONDS.
THRILLING GAME LAST NIGHT.
[BY WATERKAN."]
After trouncing the Kowloon Swimming Club to the tune of ten goals to mil, the V.R.C. juniors started, warm favourites in their match against the Chinese "A" team, which is said to be the weaker of the two Chinese teams.. To my mind, the V.R.C. players were not only beaton, bur disgraced, and their defeat was, I thought. due entirely to selfishness on the part of their players, each of whom was anxious to get the winning goal at the critical moment
At the end of the first half the score was one all, the V.R.C. conceding a penalty, which the Chinese converted. In the second half, the Chinese and two men out of the bath, so that the V.R.C. had seven wen against their opponent's five. They had two penal- ties awarded to them, bat failed to make use of their advantage, and finally conceded 'n goal, which the Chinese obtained from a penalty shot.

To allow the Chinese to beat them while playing ve men, to their seren, to my mind, merits the word “disgraced.”

The Game.
The VRC were first at the lea ther, hut Lawrance fumbled and they gained nothing. The Chinesa pressed for a "few sreonds, but the V.R.C. hacks held them out and the goalie was not tested. At the other end, Rozb Pereira, who was very well marked by the way, had| two opportunities, both of which he made full use of but the Chinese goalkeeper played superbly and kept the shots out. A bombardment in which Lawrance.
Roza Pereira figured prominently then followed but with no result, the V.R.C. playing with only two fer wards as Victor was off his game and of little use to his side..
The continual pounding at the Chinese citadel eventually brought the V.R.C. their first goal which came as a result of a good pass
from Roza Pereira to Lawrence. The goalkeeper was not to blame for this goal as he had no charce with Lawrance's shot.
setion and this man awam up with the ball. The goalkeeper swam out and got the leather, but Law rence in his excitement ducked the solitary player within the "four yard limit and was sent out of the bath, the referee giving a penalty against the V.R.C. which the Chinese realised.
There was plenty of excitement and the Chipese next concentrated on playing out time, a move which proved successful, especially after Victor developed cramp and could not carry on.
The Chinese deserve full credit for their victory, but they would themselves undoubtedly admit that they were very lucky. They scor- ed both their goals from penal- ties where the V.R. C. missed to penalties and could not score though they had more men for n good bit of the second half. While I am banding out bouquets, I might give one to Chin Sze Chok, the goal. keeper, who certainly deserved a big share of the credit far winning the match.

Comments.
On resuming the V.R.C. again | The final score was 21' in favour pressed and Chiu Sze Chok staved off a number of "hot shots." Even tually however, play, went to the other end, where Lam Iu, left co- marked by Foraita had a good op- portunity to shoot. He was fouled, however, by Remedios at back. Remedios was ordered out and Lam lu taking the penalty shot, scored the equaliser. At half time the score was one all. The V.R.C. had the better of the play up to this
point.
Second Half
At the time of writing. I have" not a copy of the rules with me but there is some doubt in my mind as to whether the referee was right in ordering Vietor and Roza Pereira, who were fouled, to take the penalty shots. I am sure the V.R.. will abide by the result of the game whatever the ruling on this parti cular point might be, but it would be interesting if some reader could see his way to furnish the püblic with the correct ruling on this point.
The League Table.
There was much speculation as to whether the luck of the Chinese team, and their goalkeeper, could hold out for the second half. Bora Pereira looked dangerous at one time and Chiu Keung Wah was sent
