HAINAN STRAITS,
The master of the . Kwangtung (British), Capt. J. D. Milne, which arrived from Singapore and Amoy reports that at the West entrance to the Hainan Straits, Lat. 20.00 N., Long. 109. 30 E. banks are falling in and the depth is probably, less than charted.
Army Cordile to be Burnt, A notice from the Ordnance Office states that a quantity of Army cordite will be burnt on Stone- cutter's Island on the following dates: Tuesday. August 6; Wednes day, August 7 Thursday, August 8; and Friday, August 9,
New to the Port.
The AL Ampullaria (British) which arrived here from Balik- papan, with 7,730 tons of oil pro ducts, paid her first visit to this port. She is owned by the Anglo Saxon Petroleum Co., Ltd., of Lon- don for whom Messrs. Asiatic Petroleum Co. (S.A.). Ltd., are the local agents. She was built in 1921 by the Union Construction Co. at 3,055 Oakland, Cal. U.S.A. with a mett tonnage of 3,470 tons Her engines which develop 556 N.H.P. were in- stalled by Messrs. Hoosen Owen and Renstschler Company of Hamilton. 0. The vessel's dimensions are: 5,760 Length. 419.5 ft., Beam 33.8 ft., and
Depth 31.1 ft.
