At present, the Canton Police force is 4.700 strong, and there

three shits per day, each policeman working eight hour

Police sub-stations will also be re-named. At present they are known by numbers and bear no in dication of the locality in which they are situated. According to the new scheme, each sub-station w go by the name of the street in which it stands.
