Unions-Have been on offer from. 8368 to 8363, with hardly any busi nen resulting, as buyers would only pay 8390, including the dividend of £2 per share which is being paid to-day.
Steamboate.-Have been dealt in at rates ranging from 828) to 8957. Few, if any, shares can be obtain ed at the latter rate.

As a matter of course, the com. muniqué continues, the Reichsbank must endeavour to manage without a discount increase, even in the face of such developments, as long as the money and credit require- ments of private trade and industry do not exceed a certain limit, but it is well known that the strains on the money market during recent weeks has been occasioned, apart Tugs-Are involuntary liquida- from seasonal

Silk trade junks have recently re sumed sailing from Namhoi and districts in Kwangtung. During the last few days several heavily Inden junks have arrived in Canton.
Prices of Kwangtung made paper have advanced recently owing to transportation difficulties caused by the military operations in the North
River region. Kwangtung paper in exported especially to Malays for Chinese. The paper in question is very cheap and used mainly for
packing purposes, etc.

Telegraphic advices from Siam indicate that there has been a brisk demand for Siamese rice and prices have gone.up. In Hong Kong and Canton prices for Chinese rice are high, and stocks are low. The demand remains normal and-mer-
chants are still buying heavily for the local market. Prices of foreign rice, are, however, as usuni.

Providents-Shares have changed hands from 84.40 to 84 and are now obtainable at 84.20.
Hotel-Improved to $0 at the beginning of the week, but have since declined to a selling rate of BS.75.
Laada-Sales reported at 863, but with few, if any, buyers.
Electrics-In the absence of
official confirmation of the expected amalgamation with its Sister Com pany on the Peninsula, Electrics have gradually declined from 8572 to 8583.

Once again, the communiqué con- cludes, it is clearly shown to what
anatural pressure the Reichsbank | is subjected by the necessity of the employment of foreign capital in the German economy, and by the increasing foreign exchange require. ments for Reparation purposes. The Reichsback is compelled to lay fresh interest burdens on. German. trade and industry at a time when they are in need of stimulation by
a reduction of interest rates.
