LONDON BANKS' FOOTBALL.

Both the Senior and Minor Cup finals of the London Banks F.A. were decided on the National Banks of India ground at Blackheath. In the tig for the Minor Cup (hald era, Bank of London and South America), which was played off first, Canadian Banks defeated Banque Belge by four goals to two, while in the struggle for the senior trophy (won last year by Lloyds Bank), Midland Bank Reserve were much too strong for National Bank of India and won by seven clear goals.

There was a very hig attendance of spectators and, as usual, the ex citement was intense, particularly during the Minor Cup final.

Banque Belge won the toas and chose to play against the wind, but in spite of this, for some few minutes they did most of the press- ing. First goal was scored by Geddes, the Canadians' centre- forward. A few minutes before half-time Bunting equalised for Banque Belge, and the changed over with the score 1-1. In the second half Bunting netted again, alter Geddes had found the not a couple of times, but a fourth goal by Goddard settled the issue.

But in recent years the doctors have been terrifying us with their warnings against the evils of thumb- sucking. They have predicted all sorts of dire results from mis- shapen dental-arches to gastronomic ills and psychological perversions. Determined to, save, their, thumb sucking children from these impend- ing disasters, earnest mothers have resorted to all sorts of apparatus in an effort to keep the errant thumb out of the yawning mouth.

A few weeks ago prominent specialist made the public assertion that thumb-sucking (unless con- tinued long after babyhood), had nothing to do with mis-shaping the mouth and dental-arch. In fact, he asserted that thumb-sucking was good for infants!
