The dramatic appearance of Szechuanese troops on the Upper Yangtae has caused a paule in Ichang.
Conditions in the region are chaotic, and made more so by absence of means of communication. It is said that Chiang Kai Shek may not relish Szechuan's interference, even though ostensibly that province is his ally.
There are no further details as yet of the wounding of three of the crew of H.M.S. Tern, when that vessel was fired on up the river.
