DECIDED:

ADMIRAL EXPRESSES

THANKS.

The two-day meeting for, the China Fleet Amateur Boxing Championships was brought to a close at the Royal Naval Canteen on Saturday night. Semi-finals were decided in the early part of the evening, the finals being staged after the interval. With the ex- ception, of a knock-out in the catch- weights class, the finals all went the "full distance of three rounds.

On the whole the meeting" was a success, as some of the fights ware closely contested and the judges had to give their decision on points.

At the close of the meeting, the President of the Fleet Boxing As sociation (Commander Figgins, R.N.), addressed the gathering, ex- pressing the thanks of those con- nected with the meeting for the of the Commander-in- presence Chief, who distributed the prizes. C.B., said that during the past tw

years it had not been possible to hold boxing tournaments owing to the ships being very much scatter- ed, but what they had been able to do had been due to the assistance given by the Hong Kong Boxing Association, whose officials he was very pleased to see among the gathering. On behalf of himself, the officers and men of the Fleet, he thanked them for all they had done.

SURPRISE IN SCOTTISH CUP FINAL..

KILMARNOCK CRUSH THE RANGERS.

HUGE CROWD WATCHES THE GAME.

Contrary to expectations, Kilmarnock won the Scottish Cap beating the Rangers (bolders) who have shown such remarkable form this season. It is the first time that Kilmarnock have gained the hohour. According to Reuter, a gate of 110,000 watched the... Cup final at Hampden Park in brilliant weather on Saturday, and saw Kilmarnock annex the trophy by scaring the only two goals of the match.

In the English League matches, Sheffield Wednesday failed at Liverpool after their success during the week in winning a point. Only a sequence of defeats in their remaining four matches, bow ever, will deprive them of the First Division championship. But Leicester, who now gain second place, are in a position to challenge the leaders. Derby County also move up, and, with Aston Villa are still contenders for the honons.

The Second Division leadership changed hands with Grimsby's defeat, which has sent Middlesbrough again to the top. Notts County and Southampton, who were both successful, are also in the rice for promotion.

"

In Division III., (Southern Section) Northampton gaining a point strengthened their promotion prospects but their nearest rivals were less successful. Quaen's Park Rangers, however, are now behind the leaders.

The position in the Northern Section is still doubtful with Stockport and Bradford City competing" strongly." The latter dropped a valuable point.
