BANGKOK, Siam (U.P).—While two scientific expeditions, one, British and one German, are adjusting their instruments for observation of the total eclipse in Southern Siam
on May 9, officials of the Royal Household are busy completing arrangements for the visit of His Majesty the King to the British sbservation camp at Pattani on the day of the eclipse.

In viewing the splendors of a total eclipse, the present ruler of Siam, King Rama VII., will be fol- lowing in the footsteps of his august grandfather, King Rama IV., whose knowledge of astronomy obtained while he was a Buddhist monk, enabled him to calculate with extraordinary accuracy the time and place of the eclipse of 1968.
