FORTSMOUTH AND BOLTON IN THE FINAL
DOWNFALL OF CELTIC.
Portsmouth, the lowest placed team in Division 1. of the English League, confounded the critics by their unexpected victory over Aston Villa in the semi-final of the English Cup on Saturday at Highbury, and for the first time entered the final with Bolton Wanderers, who conquered Huddersfield at Liverpool. The win- ners clash at Wembley on April 27.
In the Scottish Cup semi-finals, Kilmarnock crushed Celtic, the margin of victory in this case being also a single goal. They now meet the Rangers, who defeated St Mirren by one goal in a total of five, next Saturday in the final
Aston Villa's downfall is surprising in view of the fact that they have been strong Cup fighters nad hold the highest average for scoring in this season's series, giving only two goals away in a total of twenty up to the last round.
