"The removal of these rocks will be commenced on Saturday, March 18th. During this operation two divers will be employed and the site marked by a large red flag. Blast ing will take place at noon and, 5 pm daily. Mariners are warned that it is dangerous to approach within 100 yards of the rocks whilst blasting is in progress and are here- by prohibited from approaching within this distance from the red flag.. under a penalty of 8100.”
A New British Arrival, Arriving here from Antwerp, the 8.9. Rio Diamante (British) paid her first visit to this port. The res sel is owned by the Thomson Steam Shipping Company, Ltd., and Messrs. Dodwell & Company are the local
agcats. The vessel left Antwerp on January, 28th with 1.577 tons of iron and glassware for this part. She also carries 584 toms for Yokohama, 2,510 tons for Kobe 4,683 and 2,700 tons for Dairen. She wil
leave Hong Kong on Saturday or Sunday for the Northern ports. The local agents have informed our representative that the vessel is be ing followed by her sister ship the ss. Rio Dorado which is due to arrive about the end of the month."
The vessel is comparatively nOW, having been built in 1923 by Messrs. W. Gray & Company, Limited of West Hartlepool. Her nett tonnage 2.790.
