Some More-and Lovely-hats.

I have written a good deal about hats this week, but there are so many lovely.newcopper in the yard ous ahope that I want to give them all a welcome.

A very large contingent, 200 strong,, has vome to the Felix Har SHOF, and I would like to tell you about at least 200 of them, but alas space forbids. Perhaps too your patience might be exhausted, and its far better for you to go in and see them for yourself.

One of the things which struck me particularly is the variety and fascination of the straws. Some of them appear to be crocheted, or plaited by hand, or woven, and yet others are obviously made by Stitching together little sections of jvarious straws to make one whole delightful hat. All the straws are soft and nearly all of them have a delightful silken sheen.

Perhaps the most fascinating of all I saw, because the most novel, are a number of little turbans made of very soft crocheted silk and silk straw, which is swathed round the head.

The edge is bound inside with elastic so that a close fit is obtained while the material above is left loose. There were two examples of this type which I particularly admired, one in black with a black satin bow over the right ear, and the other is a deep glowing claret colour.

Among other crocheted straws is la cloche abape in beige, with a clever trimming of points of felt in”a darker colour, which appear from under the brim on the right- hand side: Another close fitting model, in oyster colour, has a deep band of stitched tan felt as a trim- miug. A very smart small hat is Imade of hand plaited silk" straw in the new opal grey, the material being set in pleats over the right ear to give decoration. Varnished black straw is trimmed by a deep band of close set velvet flower heads

in scarlet; which is widened to form ear pieces on either side.

Very attractive is a model with

a small brim made of oyster colour-

led horsehair which is cleverly em- broidered with pale blue silk braid and a few gold sequins.

A bride will probably choose for her going-away hat a cloche model lin tap hand-made straw, which has Ja line of silver-woven into it. It is trimmed on one side with a bunch of fruit in tones of yellow and, orange. A most fascinating woven atra has been used for & small brimmed hat in deep orchid colour. which has an inset panel of pleated corded silk in front.

There are also some very pretty little hats, with a small brim qus and turned up in front, made of stitched crepe de chine in various colours. They have a band of em- broidery in contrasting colours placed high round the crown.

13 18:16-30 unusually largez zudi interesting a collection of Bate that you certainly should pay a visit to the FELIX HAT SHOP, and see them for yourself. It will give you a very good idea of the coming millinery styles and you will be sure to find a large number of hats! which will suit both your face and your banking account.

Tub Frocks.

*

Gaily patterned, artificial silk, sometimes with a floral and at other times a formal Persian design, is being used this season for tub frocks of the rather smart variety. They fare to be found Au Perir” Louvne and I saw them in long sleered and sleeveless chapes The colourings" of the material and the cut are both very good, an additional attraction baing the price which is very reason. able indeed. These little frocks would be splendid for wear when the weather is beginning to get warm before one takes to real summer things, and they could be now very appropriately for Jan informal afternoon occasion.

WATER WAVES.

TAKE CARE OF THE NECK LINE.

Finger waves are such handy things because they're so easy to kerp in. The trouble with marcos

is that they disappear mysteriously

on the first rainy day.

With a water wave, you have po such troubles.

The damper the day, the better your wave and your only problem (especially during the winter) is to get enough dampness into your hair. One way, of course, is to wet the hair slightly with your comb and pinch the wave in with "your" fingers. Even more satisfactory, in my opinion, is the method of stent- ing the hair over' a kettle and then setting the waves Pins or combs will hold them, in place until the hair is thoroughly dry again.

The neckline is one of the most important parts of a bobbed head. How I hate that straight, chopped off look that some hairdressers, are

Good Things from the Pioneer. There is always something now to be found in the ProNEED SILK Stone. It may perhaps be a fresh- shipment of some favourite silk or Oriental garment, or it may be, and often is, something quite novel.

The novelty this week is georgette haori coats, which are very charm- ing indeed: They are made of white or pastel coloured georgette priat- ed in the familiar haori cont de signs and lined with plain jap ailk. Nothing could be more charming as an evening wrap, in the summer, and they would also be very suit able for wear over evening dress no

-Light-weighr-Wooner,

Some very charming three-piece saits knitted of fine wool are now being shown in THE Dotar VARDON HAT SEOP. They are designed in what might, perhaps, be described as" demure" colourings, and will cartainly appeal to older women for example, is in two tones of as well as their daughters. One stone beige, the lighter being used for the body and the darker as ornamental stripes. The jumper is in lace stitch and has sleeves as well as the coat. A very smart effect is given to another similar auit, except that in this case the coat is slacre- les, by the use of a narrow black belt to the jumper.
