We feel that the advance at the beginning of the week on fresh speculative buying, both in London and in New York, was a little pre- nature in view of the fact that the full weight of the Cuban crop will only make itself felt in the next few weeks. However, it must not. be forgotten that prices are getting more reasonable, and, should Cuba be able to move the crop more rapidly than anticipated, it would prabably be advantageous to make conservative purchases in
weak markets.
British refiners have further re- duced prices by 8d. per cwt, for near delivery and 3d. per cwt. for: distant delivery.
Business has been done in T.L.P. and T.L.8. at 22s. 6d per cwt nett. Ready Czechos are quoted at 11s. 10d.fo.b. Raws afloat have been sold at es. ed., and February- (Continued on next Volüimn).
