BOMBAY, February 7th.

The communal riots became accentuated last night, and gm- munal pickets armed with cudgels stopped passers by in the main streets of the Hindu and Moslem quarters, Hindus attacked a crowd of Moslems returning froin a cinema and two Moslems were "injured. The Moslems hastened to their own quarter and tried to incite the mob to retaliate, but troops dispersed the mob without having to open fire.

Rioting continued this morning and the death roll is growing. The military were twice compelled to fire this afternoon, but it is not known whether any casualties were caused.

It is officially stated that 33 have been killed and 200 injured. in the riots.

The city at present is quiet and troops are patrolling the affected areas. Two more companies of the Warwickshires" have been ordered to Bombay, while the military have also been streng thened by the arrival of the First Cheshires from Pocna.

Though stray assaults may possibly occur, the situation is quiet to-day. Hindu and Mohammedan leaders are moving about the disturbed orca, counselling the people resume their ordinary occupation and avoid violence. There are ample forces in Bom- bay to deal with any serious disorder. The Government earnestly advises everyone to go quietly about their business and avoid as- sembling in crowds in the streets.
