THE BANKNOTE TRICK AGAIN, It is surprising how easily Chinese women fall a prey to the gang of confidence men working in Hong Kong and passing of wads of news papers as banknotes.
Yesterday a Chinese maidservant was walking along the street, when two well-spoken men went up to her and said, "Look here, sister.

ANNUAL SCHOOL SPORTS:
MEETING.
There was a large gathering of friends and parents at the Ellis Indian School – sporta
which were held in the Sockunpoo ground yesterday afternoon,
Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Sutherland, Mr. A. E. Wood (Director of Education), Kahn, Sahib Nawab Kaha (Supt. of Indian Police) and many Indian and Chinese ladies, and gentlemen.
Before the distribution of the prizes by Mrs. A. R. Sutherland, Mr. Bishen Singh, the headmaster, thanked the subsoribers to the prize fund and Mrs. Sutherland for kindly distributing the prizes. This was the 8th annual sports and the boys had shown great keenness and en- joyment in the events.
The event of last week-end was undoubtedly the defeat of Kowloon first eleven by the Chinese Recren-Kadoorie tion Club. But I fail to feel the extreme surprise which has been I have for several years scribes. contested that the CRC. are a useful side, though rather dis appointing often, and often lacking in anish. "Anyway the C.R.C. have been on the top of their form lately. A los of people laughed at me for putting, W. C. Hung into my interport eleven last week. Mr. E. R. Price, the leader of the "negatives," criticised the Safeguarding of Industries policy and that Safeguarding was really Tariff Reform and would lead to a decrenae, in exports. The Tories had promised the unemployed many things but had done nothing to ease that problem.
An Eloquent Opponent.
Mr. Field draw attention to the Widows Pensions, Local Govern- ment Reform, prison reform, and Export Credit Scheme as being beneficial schemes introduced by the Tory Government He said that the previous speaker had confused Safeguarding with Protection which represented a permanent tariff while Safeguarding was only a temporary
measure.
With regard to unemployment, the Tories were easing that problem by assisting stagnant industries. It had been said by the previous speaker that the de-rating proposals penalised the small shop-keeper.and benefited the combines. Second Leagun.......
The Navy had again really bad luck with their second eleven, as they were beaten by the LBC B team by one wicket. I learn that the Navy put down nine catches and of course after that a win hardly possible!
For a short time the R.A.8.C.
looked as if they were going to hold the Club Second on what was not a very good wicket. Wingfield played a very pretty innings, while Langmaid defended; Lyons hit pluckily and over sixty was on the board for 2 wickets: But Cornaby went on at the Naval Yard end and bowling a remarkably as length and turning them a good bit, be ran through the rest pretty easily and came out with the ex- cellent analysis of 6 for 22. First Divisjon. '
The recent results rather point to the Club winning with K.O.C., LR.C. and University fighting it out for second place. Personally think the latter team will be sound. Indeed if the Club do not put out their strongest team always (and I have known them to be a much weaker team after the second week in February) University may win

poor time with, some rather erratic bowling on a fiery pitch and it was not altogether his fault that Extras made the top score of 28. Set 110 to get the Club made very light of it. Duckitt got a very painful smash on the thumb and 1 hear may not be able to play again for some time. Dowler will be a great acquisition to the side as a bat, and all the later batsmen got runs. Er who recently has been doing so well, bowled pluckily and well His figures of 18-4-60-3 are by no means bad in an innings of 30 for 7.
The University finally lost their chance of being top by dropping two points against Criagengower end. Fritz saved the latter side, by collecting 55 out of the 190 for a that they amassed.
The most surprising result of the week end, to my mind was the sudden return to form of the Re creio bowlers, who skittled the much fancied B.E. and S. team dut for 69 Wyatt did his best but the score was too small to give him and the other R.E. and S. bowlers a lair chance.
