Saturday's Statement. Twenty-four arrivals and eighteen departures were shown for the period ending at 9 am on Satur day of which six arrivals and piac departares were British. The gen eral cargo returns were high, with moderate contributions from Bri- tish, ships.
Twenty-two vessels discharged 23.000 tons of general merchandise for Hong Kong of which 3,573 tons were carried by six British ships The two best returns were from the 5.3. Times Maru (Japanese) from Hoagay with 3,200 tons of coal, and the ss. Michael Jobson (Danish) from Bangkok with 2,075 tons of general merchandise..
Cargo for through ports amcupt- ed to 21,338 tona. Of the tea car riera, five were British with 6,341 toas. The heaviest carriers were the ss. Yamachichi (U.S.A.) from. New York and Manila with 4,922 tons of general cargo, and the sie. Romolo (1:alian) from Yokohama and Shanghai with 4,200 tons. ".
Yesterday's Freights, The Freight returns for the period. ending at 9am. yesterday "were even higher than the previous day. Heavy imports were shown, with an increase in through cargo. There were twenty-six arrivals and twenty-seven departures of which twelve arrivals and ten departures were British.
Nineteen vessels had 30,159 tons of general cargo for this port, of which 4,303 tong
were discharged from seven British ships. The best returns were from the .a. Salvang (Norwegian) from Tarakac with 6,592 tons of oil fuel, and the s.3. Royal Arrow (American) with 6000 cases of similar cargo," from San Pedro, U.S.A.
Through freights amounted to 29,143 tons of which 14,323 tons were carried by eight British ships. The two best carriers were the s.s. Antiedon (British) with 6,652 tons ai,general merchandise from Swan- sea and Singapore, and the s.. Pensylvania (American) from Mani- la with 5,245 tons of copra and general cargo,
Details Of Freights For The Week.
The total amount of general carge discharged at this port from Mon- day 9 am to yesterday 9 am. amounted to 117,881 tons. Cargo carried through for other ports amounted to 135,154 tons. Importe show an increase against the 108,000 tons of last week, but through freights are, less. The returns of the previous week totalled 'over 158,000 tons.
