LEADERS IN THE ENGLISH LEAGUE CHECKED.

CHELSEA AGAIN TAKE THE, LEAD.”

LOW SCORING IN SATURDAY'S MATCHES.

Loaders in all divisions of the English League were checked on Saturday, Stockport in the Northern Section retain the leading place although they were defeated. The other leaders all dropped one point. Chelsea have ousted Middlesbro" from the top of the Second Division, while Plymouth in the Southern Section drop down in favour of Fulham. Home teams won 28 matches and were beaten by the visitors in eight matches, ten being drawn. The total number of goals scored in the 44 matches amounted to ITT of which 104 went to the Home teams.

Scoring was low sa compared with the mid-week matches. The highest aggregates registered were a 4-0 victory for Wolverhampton over Port Vale in the Second Division, 5-1 for Queen's Park Rangers over Torquay in the Southern Section, and 4-0 for Wigan Boro against Lincoln. the points all going to the home teams. Millwall, as visitors, beat Notts County by the odd goal in mine. Soutbond and Bournemouth shared eight goals.

Arsenal drew with. Sheffield Wednesday, the leaders, each side scoring two goals. Blackburn defeated Derby County and now follow the leaders. The two teams at the top of the Second Division did not do well and the Pensioners went above them on a one goal victory at Swansea Plymouth lost the premier place. in the Southern Section in a draw with Merthyr and the victory of Fulham over Gillingham. Tranmere, at home, gained a narrow victory over Stockport, leaders in the other Section. Wrexham's defeat sent them a step lower, Bradford City being now in the second position Linesin failed to follow up the advantage gained in mid-week when they gained the points with a heavy score.

A feature of the Scottish League matches was the usual addition of the points by the Rangers. Partick Thistle, at home, had a 6-1 victory over Raith Rovers, Changes in the League table were few. Results of Saturday's matches and revised League tables follow:-
