The fortnightly Price Current and Market Report issued by the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce on Saturday states:-
COTTON PIECE. GOODS AND FANCY COTTON GOODS.-The following re- ports have been received:
There has been more enquiry for cotton piece goods, and sales have been made of twills, warp satins and popline, but the quantilies booked are small compared with last season's purchases. Only very alight Enctuations have occurred in the price of the raw material since the last report, which stands round about the same figure.
The market is very quiet. A small trade is being done in stand- ord qualities of white shirtings, but Armness of Manchester prices and weak exchange check business.
WOOLIENS.-Enquiry is broaden- ing, but offers are anywhere from 10 to 15 per cent. out. Some busi-, ness has been done in Indigo serge, wool venetians, and blankets Dealers persist in the belief thab prices are 10 per cent. cheaper than during last season, whereas the fact is that although slightly lower prices are obtainable in certain lines, woollen goods in general are just as dear, if not dearer than they were last year and the Bradford market is hardening.
COTTON YARN-Since our last re port, market has ruled very quiet, and ro business of importance, has taken place.
Nominal quotations are as fol lowaz-No. ICs at 8170 to $190, Noi 19 at 8180 to $195, No. 13 at $195 to 3300, No. 20% at 8200 to $210.

MARKET.
A message received by the Canton dealers from Shanghai states that No. 20 yarns have dropped one tael per bale..
The condition of the Canton cotton yarn market, on Saturday last was very dull, and owing to the news from Shanghai No. 20's fell by one or two dollars per balo, but without attracting buyers,,

CHEMICAL FERTILIZER.
Thereompetition in the fertilis bete between Japanese, British and American interests. Chemical fertiliser imported into Hong Kong is chiefly re-exported to Amoy, Swatow and Canton. Japnese sulphate of ammonia is in good demand, the volume of business done yearly in the Colony British products also bulk largely totalling over one million piculs. in this trade, and are chiefly im- ported through Brunner Mond American nitrate is also now in the market and although not selling very largely is expected to develop considerably in the near future.
A representative of the Daily merchant, was told that owing to Pren who interviewed a Chinese the anti-Japanese boycott, sales of Japanese sulphate have rapidly fallen, and quotations also show a sharp drop. Japanese fertiliser was formerly quoted at $13, but present quotations stand at 28.60 Quotations for British fertiliser are
about $7.50, and 26.60 for American nitrate both quotations having dropped by about $2 a picul.

BERLIN, December 14th. The Reichstag has adopted a Bill for increasing the sugar duty to 25 marks per
two hundred- weight, which will be pulled when the price on the Magdeburg Bourse exceeds 21 marks per hua- dredweight.
The object of the Bill is stated to be to make foreign producers more amendable to negotiations un- der the Sugar Convention.
