ANXIETY ABOUT EXCES-
SIVE SUPPLIES.
lovernment Rice Committee will meet on November 28th at the Agricultura Minister's residence, in Tokyo-in order to discuss measurea for the regulation of the rice mar- ket, which it is fenced will become more inactive owing to the larger estimate for the new crop and the bigger carry-over of last year's rico.
At the meeting, the Chairman of Committee will make a report as to the condition of the rice market and rica plantation, and then the following items will be consider ed:What steps should be taken by the Government against the de- clining tendency of the rice mar
and ket; revision of the Rice Grain Law; and the proposed ex- tension of the period for rice im- port restriction.
The stock of rice carried over! into the new crop year, which be gan on Noveraber 1st, from last year amounted to 7,897,73 koka, au increase of 36.7 per cent.. equivalent to 100,082 koku. as compared with the carry-over of a year ago..
According to further details of the carry-over rice for this year, published by the Agriculture and Forestry Office, 297,000 koku was Chosen rice, 109,000 koku Taiwan rice, 291,000 kaku foreign rice, and the remainder domestic rige. Some 2,394,000 keku, inclusive of 79,000 koku of foreign rice was held by the Government.
Appréhensions About Over-Supply.
There is apprehension that the new crop year will be troubled with over-supply and small con- sumption, because figures both new crop and carry-over are reported be somewhat larger than the

The over-supply for this year be about 3,692,000 koku, the figures for supply and consump tion being estimated at 77,058,000 koku and 71,336,000 koku, respec tively. The following are the estimated figures:--
