Moscow, Nov. 3ch The Supreme Couneli of National Econciny has published the total figures of industry for the year.

The reserve fund in. creased by 14 per cent. while the capital expenditure surpassed one billion roubles. Further, the cost of production was lowered by five per cent, the productivity of labour increased by 15 per cent, and wages, increased by seven per cent.

The Supreme Council's report states that industries which had as their bases of power the employ ment of energy, had been specially increased and that the production of electric energy surpassed that of pre-war days by 943 per cent. Seventy-seven new big enterprises, to cost 200,000,000 roubles will start work at full capacity during this working year, among these new e- terprises being the oil pipe from Batoum to Baku and oil refineries anit at Batoum, Kendopojsky

Several of the new enterprises will start work on the day when the eleventh celebration of the October revolution is observed.

Sin. Your correspondent "Prim- rose League" whose gallant defence of the acting of Mrs. Chubb in, the part of Dulcie Primrose,ap- wars in your issue of this morning seems to have forgotten a few facts. "Miss Primrose," as he points out. was the daughter of the former owner of the house and a woman of considerable ability. Mr. Purdie would attainly not have employed her if she had not been competent; he was neither sentimental enough Bor unpleasant enough to have taken her on as his secretary simply because he was living in her old home.

The late Mr. Primrose ruined himself by racing. and his bouse was situated close to a race course. His daughter would have been ac customed to the society of just such men as Algie Sprigge and Sir Reginald Toothill and one feels

that after a few months of un- diluted Pardie she would have wel- comed their advent. She would cer

tainly have known exactly how to manage them, and would not have needed to adopt the nirs of a virtuous school girl in repulsing the ardent attentions of Mr. Chubb, in my opinion and in that Sprigge. It was there that Mrs. of your dramatic critic, failed to make the most of her part, which should have been equal in import. ance to that of Amos Purdie." She was the heroine, even if in distressed circumstances, and should have heen perfectly capable of "keeping her end up in n. natural and dignified manner with both the Purdies and the racing

men,

Mrs. Chubb acted well and was always interesting to watch, but she let slip the opportunity of making herself really sympathetic to the audience and of being the princess in disguise which the role- demands Yours, etc..

A dividend of 7 per cent., less tax, is to be paid on Anglo-Per sinn Oil Ordinary shares for the year ended March 31st last.

The sum of £600,000 is to be al- located to the several reserve funds, and £453,000 to extra depre- ciation, leaving a sum of £2,224,000

to be carried forward, subject to excess profts duty.

For the previous year the.com- pany paid a dividend of 18 per cent. its Ordinary capital, which had been increased in the previous year by a 50 per cent. ahare bonus to D total of £13,425,000. Net profits were sbown at £4,635,444, the various appropriations amounted to £1,700,000, and the "carry-forward to £2,246,879.

Making a rough calculation on the basis of last year's allocations, it would seem that profits on this ocession are about two-thirds of what they were last year, or a re duction of something in the neigh- bourhood of £1,500,000 in net pro- uitz.
