Canton has had no greater excitement than a big athletic meeting for the whole of the province, but from the Northern boundary of Kwang- tung comes the news of further disturbances by bands of communists and brigands.

Hong Kong's sporting season is in full swing.

The Bowls individual championship has been decided and cricket and football matches are already giving an indication of the form and prospects of the next few months. The Boxing season has also been opened with a successful programme at the City Hall.
