The system of Travellers' Cheques was originated in 1891 by the America Express Company with the object of creating a form of fanyal currency which would give the holder the security of a letter at credit and at the same time the convenience of local currency. The Company reg Herod. the cheques uniler (they trade name of 'AMERICAN EXPRESS ́THÅVELKES': CHEQUES' the word "Travellers' being spelled with ana “1”.
