The Annual Aquatic Champion- ships of the Colony have been scheduled to take place during the current week at the Victoria Re- creation Club, and a start was made yesterday, when hosts for

two events were down to be de- cided.

These were the 220 yards Open Championship And the 100 yards Breast Stroke, but only the latter in the eyent was swum off as former two of the competitors failed to put in an appearance and so the remaining four, viz.: D. Lyon, J. R. Johnstone, LR Pereirs and C. J. Cooke, had a walk-over to the Final, which will be swum on Friday, the 18th inst.

DARKNESS STOPS PLAY.

Starting their Spey Cup match at 4.13 p.m. yesterday, East Point B.C. and the Yacht Club were unable to finish the game..owing to darkness. At the close of the score was 14 sixteenth head the shote each side. Another two ends were played, but in bad light, East Point scoring six shots and giving

two away in the last head. This gives the East Point a lead of four shots on the day's play.

The remaining three heads will be played on a date to be fixed. The winning side will meet Craigen- Bower, on whose ground the game was played yesterday, to which team enters the final.

A welcome entry is that of J. R. Johnstone, for many years the
