THE MASTER OF NAPIER WEDS
MISS MUIR NEWSON.
BEAUTIFUL CATHEDRAL SERVICE.
K.O.S.B. OFFICERS' MESS DECORATED
WITH FLOWERS.
"Happy the Bride the Sun shines on" is perhaps a super- stition of the comparatively suples Northern lands, but it was a happy augury for the Master of Napier and his Bride that their wedding yesterday was marked by the best that Hong Kong can produce in the way of weather. The sun shone, and there was a pleasant cooling breeze,
2
The wedding was attended by between three and four hundred guests, and H.E. the Officer Administering the Government (the Hon. Mr. W. T. Soathorn, C.M.G.), who was present with Mrs. Southern, proposed the toast of the bridal couple. His Excellency in the course of charming and witty speech referred to the old-Border quatomi of capturing England's fairest girls as brides as the Master of Napier had dona.
Det
The Cathedral service, which was fully choral, was very beauti-. ful; the band of the K.O.S.B. played selections of music before the Bride's entry, and the interior of the building had been decorat- ed with the bridegroom's colours, yellow, white and green, by Lady Pollock. The Very Reverend the Dean of Hong Kong (the Rev. A. Swann) officiated, assisted by the Rev. G. F. Stopford, C.F., the Rev. F. P. W. Alexander, C.F.. and the Rev. H.-V. Koop.:
There were five bridesmaids and two train bearers, while the bridegroom was attended by seven groomsmen all brother sub- alteras, and by Licut J. G. Shillington, Adjutant of the 2nd Batt., K.O.S.B., as best man.”
THE CEREMONY.
Lieut. W. G. Mattingley, Lieut. H. A. Kelly, Lieut. f. Scott- Elliot, Lieut F. M. V. Tregear, Lieut. WP. Richardson, Lieut. J. D. A. HacLaren and Lieut. A. B. S. Clarke.

of his (Mr. Southorn's) overdraught when he was an underpaid member of the Civil Service in that country, (Laughter and applause.)
Bridegroom's Speech *
The health of the bride and bridegroom was then drunk, and the bridegroom "responded in a shorti speech. He said that he wished to express the deepest gratitude on behalf of himself and his wife, to His Excellency, and the assembled guests for their kind' wishes. They bad hoped to have been married at Homo several months ago as his parents could not conta to Hong Kong, but the next best place to Home was the Mera "Brother Officers," he said, "I thank you- awfully. They were very glad to have Sir Percy and Lady Newson with them; and it was wonderful to see
so many residents of the Colony present to wish them good luck. He hoped, when they return- ed, or at all events his wife hoped, to get to know them all. (Much laughter pad applause.)
The Honeymoon. ̧
After the reception the bride and bridegroom left for their honey- moon, which is to be spent in the Philippines. The Hon. Mrs. Napier. was wearing a lovely Paris model dress of beige silk bouclette made with a shoulder cape, and a double girdle with a bouquet of bright coloured flowere embroidered in front. She wore a necklet of summer crmine and a beige hat of fine tagal straw and carried a beautiful fur coat of the same tone, a wedding present from her mother, Lady Newson,
