the extensive and honourable record of the Empresa of France during STRAITS & CALCUTTA.. the Great War when she acted as flagship of the 10th Cruiser Squadron and at the close of her TIENTSIN career as an armed cruiser, was paid a memorable tribute by the SANDAKAN First Lord of the Admiralty, Sir Eric Geddes. She has twice had the henour of conveying H.R.E: the Prince of Wales to Canada, and she holds the record for making the fastest passage between Liverpool and Quebec, the time being 3 days.

The R. M. S. Empress of dein ar- rived at Nagasaki yesterday morn jag, left in the afternoon, and is due at Kobe to-day, (Tuesday) at § p.m.
The B.I. and Apcar Line 8.3. Gambada leff Moji for this port en the afternoon of the 16th inst, and is due here on the 22nd inst., at about 6 a.m.
The Ben Line 6.5. Benarus, from Leith. Middlesbro', Antwerp, Lon- den, Straite and Philippines, is due to arrive here on the 23rd inst.

Captain W. Marshall, D.S.O. (with Bar), R.D., R.N.R., Commodora (2nd class) is now com- manding RM.S. Olympic.
Captain H. J. Haddock, C.B., R.D., R.N.R., Commodore (2nd class) recently retired as Com- modare of the White Star Line and captain of the B.M.S. Olympic.
It is noteworthy that all three in turn have had the honour to be A.D:C. to the King and Com- modore Haddock was the first officer of the Mercantile Marine to bave that honour. It will be in- teresting to know that all three re- ceived their early training on board H.M.8. Conway, cadet ship.
