The Shang- hai team was nothing out of the ordinary, and it is to be regretted that an effort was not made to ar- range a match with the local Fili pino pack It was also a pity that the Hong Kong "Baseball Club was unable to field a team against the visitors. If any team in the Colony could trounce the Shanghai [TO THE EDITOR OF THE HONG KONG Division at the Tennis Chinese it was the Filipinos.

The Shanghai Ameri- cans have a very strong outfit, and even the American School boys xed a better standard of base hall while I was there. Then the panese teams were also strong factors to contend with. However, a visiting team is always a diver sion to ball fans in the Colony, and no matter whether the stan dard was high or not, our baseball enthusiasts have given their full support and have thoroughly en jesed themselves.

While on the subject, I might mention that the Shanghai players had many faults to find with us The day after their first game here I was asked why no Box Score" was kept. The visitor thinking that I had never been in Shanghai told me how they do things over there, and that the Press always published the Box Score together with their accounts. I told him that I was connected with one of the leading dailies there and it had been my lot to report ball games, and pointed out to him that the Box Score was supplied to the Pressmen after each game by the official scorer. He was sur prised when I told him that such things are never done here.
