A summary of the text of the German Treaty with China has ̈ been issued, and. follows closely on the lines indicated in "earlier cables. Germany, like all the other Powers, insists upon most favoured nation treatment, but there is a distinct agreement immediately to set on foot negotiations for a complete commer cial treaty with China on a basis of strict equality. The text of the treaty is drawn up in Chinese, German and English.
Marshal Chiang Kai Shek is suffering from toothache in Shanghai, and both the Central Government and the Central Kuomintang have sent delegations to wait upon him. It is said that he may take a rest cure at his birthplace, Fenghwa, before resuming his duties. He has sent a telegram to Feng Yu Helang asking him to remain in Nanking for the present,
General Pei Chung Hai is withdrawing his troops from Chithi to Hankow, and already his first two divisions have left Peking. His forces are being replaced by Kuominchum troops, who already bold all the important points between Peking and Tientsin” and have extended-beyond-Tientsin.
