AERODROME BUILT.
An aerodrome on the roof of a London school is the latest effort to provide up-to-date air tuition for boys, writes a correspondent of the London Morning Post
Highgate School has decided to include aviation in its general cur- riculum. The aerodrome has been built on the roof of its new science school, erected at a cost of £50,000.
The boys will be taught by instructors, all of whom have served in the Royal Air Force... The Headmaster, Dr. J. A. H. John- ston, has already installed a fully equipped hangar in which are an Avro and Snipe ready for fight, a repair shop, and á 395 h.p. air- cooled Armstrong-Siddeley Jaguar engine, and a 450 h.p. Napier Lion engine.
It is safe to say that instruction on the aerodrome will probably be the most popular lesson at the
school next term.
The object is to provide facilities for the study of flight so that boya may ultimately go into the R.A.F. in the same way as many now enter the Navy and Army.
It is not proposed to allow the boys to dy for the time being.
CO-OPTIMISTS TO END.
"TAX AVERAGE" KILLS REVIVAL OF FAMOUS TROUPE.
For many weeks now determined efforts have been made to revive the Co-optimista, writes Argonaut' in the Evening Standard. The Inland Revenue and a sum of £2,400 stand in the way. It is almost certain that the Co-optimists will never be revived.

il
The story of the plans to revive the famous troupe makes one of the most interesting marratives in re- cent theatrical history.
Five works go nearly all the original company rnet and were ready to open for a season with a selection of the best numbers and dances from the original pro-
gramme," said Mr. David Burnaby, the famous Co-optimists compère to me. Then we realised that the Treasury would have something to say if we took a theatre and opened in a new show,
"After the last season the Co- optimists went into liquidation.
The
company was called Ca- optimists Entertainment Syndicate, Ltd. It had made a lot of money in the course of its years of exist ence. I reckon that we paid the Government £250,000 in entertain- ment tax during that time. How ever, our last season was not very successful and те decided liquidate.

16 TONS MECHANICAL ACROBATS,
LONDON, July 13th. Ox Salisbury Plain yesterday members of both Houses of Partia- ment, at the invitation of the Army Council, saw a demonstration by armoured units,
There were armoured cars that travel at 50 miles an hour so silently that the Autter of the flag on the bonnet is the only sound heard. There were motor-cycles-not tri- cycles-with three wheels that laid their own track like a tractor, for going across country; reconnaissance tanks for one or two men, and the heavier, so called medium tank, with thicker armour and 3-pounder gun.

Picture the soldier lying down, still a death-that is his only hope --praying that he may remain xa- seen by the approaching monster. Straight for him it comes.
"
His rifle is powerless, to run is futile, is only chance is ta lie quite still, and he hopes that its tracks will miss him and that if they do it may pass over him as he bad been told it should.
די.
Twists And Tufi, After that attack came amazing gimnastic feats by these gigantic robots.
One after another they crossed a felled tree trunk, hardly traversed a ditch which would make deigning to notice, its existence;
a fair jump in the hunting field; and then crossed a narrow gully deeper than the trunnions of a field gun.
There was another obstacle which only one experimental eight-wheeler attempted. It was uncanny to see it tilted first one way and then an-
other, its rear twisted in the op- posite direction to the front, but never losing stability or maneuvring power.
To a race a light tank beat n' 16-tone medium tank on
a mile course, travelling at about 33 m.p.h.
a downward slope.
Great interest was caused by an incident not according to plan, One tractor left behind its gun-in a gulley. In a few seconds a wire was led back and hooked on to the trail of the gun. Men lifted and 'a mechanical winch hauled it out as though it were a child's toy.
For the moment, strange to say," there are several vacancies in the Tank Corps. Men with mechanical instincts and pioneers at heart have the opportunity of a lifetime-a soldier's career combined with the finest mechanical training in the world.
