The Special Correspondent of The Times of India writing on the situation at Bardoli draws a vivid picture of the terrible suf- fering which the peasantry of that Taluka are experiencing as a result of the campaign of passive resistance upon which they have embarked at the behest and under the guidance of Mr. Gandhi and his henchman Mr. Vallabhbhai Patel.
Herded like animals in their miserable windowless dwellings where neither light nor air can penetrate, living in unimaginable proximity with their cattle, the villagers of Bardoli and their cattle alike have passed and are passing through a terrible ordeal, Bardoli, it seeme, is like a village stricken with some terrible disease, the people slinking terrified about their houses and the Taluka completely isolated.
BOLSHEVIK METHODS.
And for all this suffering according to the Timer of India, Mr. Gandhi and Mr... Vallabhbhai Patel are responsible. The initial error of the Bombay Government in not taking the agita- tion seriously and the apparent paralysis that has overtaker the
· revenue, administration and the machinery of Government in the taluka has put heart into the suffering villagers. And Mr. Patel's ceaseless propaganda keeps their spirits up.

GOVERNMENT ACTION IF NECESSARY.
It will be remembered that according to the cabled news of the last few days questions on this subject have been asked in the House of Commons, and the Government has issued a warning that the Government of India and His Majesty's Government were prepared to support, the Government of Bombay in enforcing compliance with the law and crushing the movement.

An Army Of Women, Even the devil must get its due and one thing that amazed me in the Bardoli villages was the women's hero worship of Sardar Patel. In one, village that I went to the women folk, numbering a hundred or so, tùrned out in force and recited for my edification, under the orders of one of the Satyagrahi Divisional Comman- ders who accompanied me, a num- ber of songs in which Mr. Val- labhbhai Patel figured as the hero.
